Dhokla, which originally originated in Gujarat, is popular all over India. One of the favorite breakfast food among all age groups.

Equipment

  • 1 steamer
  • 1 thali or baking dish
  • 1 pan

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup gram flour (besan)
  • 1/2 cup semolina (rava or sooji)
  • 1/2 cup yogurt (dahi)
  • 1/2 tsp ginger paste
  • 1/2 tsp green chili paste
  • 1 tsp Eno fruit salt
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing

Instructions
 

  • 1.In a mixing bowl, add gram flour, semolina, yogurt, ginger paste, green chili paste, and salt. Mix well.
    1 cup gram flour (besan), 1/2 cup semolina (rava or sooji), 1/2 cup yogurt (dahi), 1/2 tsp ginger paste, 1/2 tsp green chili paste, 1 tsp Eno fruit salt, to taste Salt, 1/4 cup water
  • 2.Add water slowly and mix to make smooth batter. Keep it aside for 10-15 minutes.
  • 3.Take a steamer and fill it with water. Bring it to a boil.
  • 4.Grease a thali or a baking dish with oil and keep it aside.
  • 5.In a small bowl, mix Eno fruit-salt and 2 tbsp of water. Add this to the batter and mix well.
  • 6.Immediately pour the batter into the greased thali or baking dish.
  • 7.Place the thali or baking dish in the steamer and steam for 15-20 minutes.
  • 8.Once done, let it cool down for awhile.
  • 9.Cut the dhokla into small pieces.
  • 10.In a pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds, sesame seeds, and sugar. Let it crackle.
    2 tbsp oil, 1 tsp mustard seeds, 1 tsp sesame seeds, 1 tsp sugar
  • 11.Pour this over the dhokla pieces. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with green chutney and tamarind chutney.

Notes

Add water low and very little in quantity so it will be not be extra if needed add more.
